9 Organizations To Give Back To During This Holiday Season – Daily Sundial

A number of San Fernando Valley organizations will be accepting donations and handing out toys and essentials to help the community this Christmas season. Here are some The Sundial has curated for the holiday season.

North East Valley Health Corporation

North East Valley Health Corporation will host Rudolph’s 2021 Holiday Drive-Thru Toy Giveaway. On the last three Sundays in December, NEVHC presents its pediatric patients with a brand new toy and a socially distant greeting from Santa Claus. To participate, you can make a financial contribution by visiting nevhc.org/2021toydrive or donating $ 10 or more unpackaged toys to children newborn to 10 years of age.

LOS ANGELES REGIONAL FOOD BANK

The Los Angeles regional food bank and its partner locations, such as shelters and churches, need volunteers. The tasks can vary at the partner locations.

Tasks include assisting with maintaining inventory and storing groceries on the days the locations receive groceries or collect groceries from the food bank. HEAL

MEND is collecting food and board games this Christmas season to distribute to families. They can help purchase items on their Amazon Food Drive wishlist or Amazon board game wishlist. The days and hours of making donations are Tuesday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 10641 N. San Fernando Road in Pacoima.

MEND also allows people to host their own vacation drive by registering their own drive through the organization’s website.

Los Angeles Fire Department

The Los Angeles Fire Department is celebrating their Spark of Love Toy Drive, where they collect and distribute new and unwrapped toys. Sporting goods and equipment are also made available to children and teenagers from LA, San Bernardino, Orange, Ventura, and Riverside. You can donate by handing in new and unpackaged toys or sports equipment to your local fire department. To make an online donation visit https://supportlafd.kindful.com/.

West Valley pantry

West Valley Food Pantry will continue its drive-through food distribution during the holidays. Volunteers are currently needed to help pack groceries, set up transit, unload deliveries and distribute groceries to customers’ cars.

They accept unopened and unexpired food donations Monday through Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
CSUN pantry

The CSUN pantry remains open during the holidays during the usual opening times, Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

They will have a pop-up pantry in Laurel Hall on December 1st and 15th from 1pm to 5pm. The pop-up is open to all CSUN students and employees. Visit the pop-up pantry website for more information.

It’s bigger than us

It’s Bigger Than Us will host its “Tis the Giving Season” event December 4-18, where they will provide toys and vital resources to communities. Please visit their website for more information.

Rescue mission in the San Fernando Valley

The San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission will accept donations to buy meals for those in need.

Donations will also help the organization fund its year-round housing, education, and substance abuse programs.

Valley Food Bank

Valley Food Bank will host several food distributions throughout the Christmas season, ranging from the Northridge area to Sylmar and the San Fernando area.
