Serra Girls Basketball defeated Harvard-Westlake behind Jailah Donald’s 24 points

The Serra girls’ basketball team took a major road win on Saturday, beating Harvard-Westlake 59:51 in an out-of-league game.

The Cavaliers (8: 6) led at halftime by 33:31 and increased their lead to 45:32 in the middle of the third quarter.

The Wolverines cut the lead to 45:37 before moving into the fourth quarter.

Harvard-Westlake got as close as three points, 50-47, but Serra regained control by scoring seven of the closest points and taking a 57-49 lead. Ashley Maciel made a 3-pointer to start the run for Serra.

Jailah Donald led Serra with 24 points. Brooklyn Taylor graduated at 18.

Narbonne 40, Rancho Cucamonga 35: Tylan Adams scored 23 points and led the gauchos (9-8) to victory at the Northview High Showcase.

Boys basketball

LACE 67, San Pedro 52: The Pirates (12-6) were on the losing side in the Silver Division finals of the Huntington Park tournament.

Anthony Hrboka led the Pirates with 30 points. It was his third game in a row with over 30 points in the tournament. He was elected to the all-tournament team.

Keith Vaughn Jr. had eight points, five rebounds and six assists.

The Pirates competed in the earlier rounds in the bronze division, but were brought forward to the silver division for the final in order not to play against a league opponent.

Venice 48, Val Gardena 42: The Panthers (14-5) lagged behind the Gondoliers in the final of the Ed Baker San Fernando Valley Invitational on Friday.

Boys soccer

Bishop Montgomery 2, St. Genevieve 2: Ian Rodriguez scored for the Knights (4-2-3, 0-1-1) in Friday’s Del Rey League game.
