“Volocopter is one of the promising options for urban air mobility to add to Angeleno’s new connectivity and travel options,” said Clint Harper, Urban Air Mobility Fellow at Urban Movement Labs. “Your partnership with Urban Movement Labs shows that they are interested in learning how to improve the Angelenos mobility experience through a shared vision. Partnerships like this are an important step in launching this innovative industry with the community in mind. We are excited to share this journey with UAM pioneers like Volocopter. ”

“We are implementing a community-first strategy to work with community-based organizations to create a policy framework that will guide the development of the UAM infrastructure in the US City of Los Angeles,” called Sam Morrissey, Executive Director at Urban Movement Labs. “Through our partnership with Volocopter, we can study specific pilot projects to advance a future UAM network that will reflect what we hear from Angelenos and set standards for future UAM operations.”

Volocopter’s family of aircraft for UAM services includes the VoloCity air taxi for short inner-city routes, the VoloDrone for heavy goods transport and the VoloConnect for longer routes between suburbs and the city center. The company is also developing physical and digital infrastructures (VoloPort and VoloIQ) to complement its multipurpose aircraft portfolio and create scalable urban air mobility ecosystems in cities. Volocopter will launch its UAM services in the next 2-3 years after receiving final certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The simultaneous certification by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will enable Volocopter to bring its services to the USA shortly afterwards.

The partnership between Volocopter and Urban Movement Labs will provide lessons for a policy framework that envisions UAM as a safe, sustainable and equitable multimodal transportation component The angel.

As the only industrial eVTOL player with two strategic EASA certification approvals for the development and manufacture of aircraft in-house, Volocopter brings a leading role in certification, ten years of experience and over 1,000 test flights with it.
