The Santa Monica Fire Department (SMFD) quickly put out two bushfires that broke out along I-10 over the weekend.

According to the SMFD, a fire was reported next to the Interstate 10 freeway near 4th Street around 6 a.m. on Sunday.

“The fire along the freeway dam was a 25 by 25 foot vegetation fire that was extinguished by firefighters with no injury or damage to surrounding structures,” wrote SMFD Captain Patrick Nulty.

SMFD crews put out the fire in less than 20 minutes.

According to Nulty, the cause of the fire was unclear.

“There was nothing suspicious in nature that was found by local firefighters,” added Nulty.

The Sunday morning fire came just over 24 hours after a similar fire was put out early Saturday morning by the SMFD on 1-10 near Lincoln Boulevard. The SMFD did not immediately have more information about this fire.
