The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) has commenced investigations for utility companies ahead of the construction of the East San Fernando Valley transit corridor project.

The project envisages the construction of a 9.2-mile light rail system that will stretch from the Van Nuys Metro G Line (Orange) station to the Sylmar / San Fernando Metrolink station. The first operating segment, which extends 6.7 miles from Van Nuys Boulevard on the Metro G Line (Orange) to San Fernando Road, is entirely at ground level and includes 11 new stations.

Further studies are underway to determine the remaining operating segment from San Fernando Road to Hubbard Road, according to LA Metro.
