Motorcyclist killed in accident near Lake Lopez

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, California – A 29-year-old man from the San Fernando Valley was killed in a frontal motorcycle accident near Lopez Lake on Saturday.

It happened around 7:55 p.m. on Saturday on Lopez Lake Drive, east of Grieb Ranch.

The motorcyclist, identified as 29-year-old Josiah Moy Gonzalez, was driving 55 to 60 mph on Lopez Drive when he hit oncoming traffic and collided with a 2016 Kia going the other way.

Gonzalez was thrown off his motorcycle and landed in the hard shoulder of the road. He suffered fatal injuries and died on the scene, said the California Highway Patrol.

A passenger on the Kia suffered minor injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment. The driver was unharmed.
