Sunrise: April 9, 1934
Sunset: April 5, 2022
John was born in Chicago, Illinois to Edward Hagey and Elinor Whiting-Hagey on April 9, 1934. He lived there while growing up and moved to the San Fernando Valley for some time and then finally to Kernville 36 years ago. He loved being outdoors, whether it be fishing, riding his motorcycles or going on a walk with his beloved dog. John made many lifelong friends between the San Fernando Valley and Kern River Valley. Anytime you would see John he would always have a smile on his face and something great to talk about. Anywhere he went, people knew him and looked forward to seeing him.
During his life, John did many amazing things. He enjoyed desert and speedway racing. He was an avid fisherman, an excellent machinist, an amazing mechanic and a pilot. John still rode his motorcycle all around the valley up until he got sick. When John was a young man he got his pilot license, and he proudly owned a flight school as well. He was a machinist at Rocketdyne, he worked for Technicolor and as a mechanic for Bud Eikens alongside Von Dutch, a famous artist at painting cars and motorcycles.
John was preceded in death by his longtime partner Barbara Lebro, his sister Joanie Zishke, stepsons Mike and Timmy Edmonson and stepdaughter Susie Rocha.
He is survived by his son John Hagey Jr. and wife Kathy, his stepdaughter Annie Edmonson-Danielsen and husband Michael, his grandson Joshua Hagey and wife Amanda, granddaughter Shannon Hagey, sister Susie Land and husband Robert, and many step-grandchildren and great -grandchildren. John was an amazing father, son, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. John’s sense of humor, jokes and his outlook on life will truly be missed by all. As he said it himself many times, he “had a crackerjack of a life” and had no regrets. Rest peacefully, until we meet again.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 30 at 1 pm at the Elks Lodge in Wofford Heights: 6708 Wofford Blvd., Wofford Heights, CA 93285.
