Ian Alexander Jr., DJ and son of Regina King, dies

LOS ANGELES (CNS) — Ian Alexander Jr., a Los Angeles-based DJ and son of actress and director Regina King, has died by suicide, according to multiple reports Saturday.

Alexander Jr. had just turned 26 on Wednesday. Further details about his death were not immediately available.

“Our family is deeply saddened by the loss of Ian. He’s such a bright light who cares so much about the happiness of others,” King said in a statement provided to reporters. “Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time. Many Thanks.”

Alexander was the son of King, 51, and record producer Ian Alexander Sr. The couple are divorced.

According to Alexander’s Instagram page, he performed under the name “Desdune.” His single “Green Eyes” was released on January 7 and he had scheduled performances in Los Angeles later that month.

He also appeared in One Night in Miami, the 2020 film directed by his mother.
