The Los Angeles County registrar’s office released results from around 134,000 additional ballots Thursday Nov. 10, which solidified many candidates’ leads and did little to ease the nail-biting in neck and neck city council races in the Los Angeles area. This brings the total number of ballots reported up to 1,452,192 with around 872,000 ballots left to be counted, according to the registrar’s office.
While the updated results provided more insights into candidates’ standings, final results could be days or even weeks away. On Wednesday, Nov. 9, the registrar’s office announced it was extending its timeline to count ballots to compensate for the standard surge of vote-by-mail ballots received on Election Day.
