A suspected suspect has been taken into custody at Van Nuys after police pursuit – NBC Los Angeles

A man suspected of a lethal weapon attack was taken into custody after leading police in a high-speed chase along surface roads in the San Fernando Valley on Friday.

The police started chasing the man who was driving a black BMW 5 Series in the Sylmar area just before 5:10 p.m.

The man led police through the Pacoima and Van Nuys areas, accelerated and drove erratically, and possibly pulled another vehicle aside.

He stopped near Saticoy Street and Van Nuys Boulevard at around 5:45 p.m. and appeared to be talking into his cell phone through the window. Moments later he emerged from the vehicle when several objects fell to the ground.

He threw his cell phone hard, followed the police’s instructions and was taken into custody without incident.
