A stolen big rig driver leads CHP on a hunt from the San Fernando Valley to Ventura County

LOS ANGELES (KABC) – CHP officials chased a stolen large drill on highways through the San Fernando Valley Wednesday night.

The 18-wheeler was reported stolen from a courtyard in the Los Angeles area shortly after 8 p.m.

When the officers caught up with the vehicle, it refused to stop. They tracked the vehicle on 5 north through the San Fernando Valley and then west on 118 into the Simi Valley.

The truck drove just under the speed limit on the freeway, about 50 to 60 mph, during much of the freeway chase. A logo for a restaurant was affixed to the side of the truck.

When the Big Rig was in the Thousand Oaks area, a successful spike-strip attempt destroyed at least two tires on the vehicle. Multiple attempts at spike strips damaged multiple tires on the Big Rig, but the suspect drove on and returned to the San Fernando Valley.
