After an eventful evening with thunderstorms, which brought parts of the Southland pouring rain and an impressive lightning show, the weather conditions in the region should be much calmer on Tuesday.
The storms dropped nearly half an inch of rain in some areas on Monday, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters said Los Angeles County’s Big Dalton Dam saw 0.41 inches of rain, while the Santa Fe Dam saw 0.33 inches of rain.
Santa Monica was 0.27 inches and Hansen Dam in the San Fernando Valley was 0.21 inches, according to the NWS. Hollywood Reservoir was 0.15 inches, Woodland Hills was 0.19 inches, Chatsworth Reservoir was 0.16 inches, and Van Nuys was 0.13 inches.
Downtown LA recorded 0.11 inches of rain and Pasadena recorded 0.18 inches of rain.
Forecasters said Tuesday would be “a much quieter day … after an impressive lightning show last night.”
“Today (Tuesday) it will be dry, but cooler,” said the NWS. “The cooling trend is expected until Thursday, with an increase in the night due to low clouds in the morning. A frontal system can bring rain to the entire area until Thursday night and Friday. Dry weather is expected for the weekend. “
Forecasters said Tuesday had a 20% chance of rainfall in the San Gabriel Valley and a low chance of showers and thunderstorms in the Riverside County’s valleys and LA County’s mountainous areas.
