5 beaches in Los Angeles under water warnings

LOS ANGELES, CA – A warning was issued Wednesday night regarding the use of seawater for bodies of water near five Los Angeles beaches after test results showed bacterial levels exceeded state standards.

Swimmers and surfers have been warned against swimming on the following beaches:

  • Mother Beach in Marina Del Rey
  • Santa Monica Pier
  • Manhattan Beach Pier
  • Redondo Beach Pier
  • Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro

The Los Angeles County Department of Health continues to warn residents who visit these Los Angeles County beaches not to swim, surf, and play in ocean water.

“Bacteria levels in seawater exceed government standards and can cause disease,” said public health officials.

Recorded information about beach conditions is available 24/7 through the county beach closure hotline: 1-800-525-5662. Information is also available on the website: PublicHealth.LACounty.gov/Beach/.
