Keeping everything in the creative family, multi-platinum songwriter and recording artist Mozella – née Maureen McDonald – bought a delightful little Tudor home in Santa Monica from a Los Angeles PR guru who specializes in promoting the contemporary art world specialized. Records show that Mozella paid Sara Fitzmaurice of Fitz & Co. just over $ 5 million for the property, which was originally listed for nearly $ 5.2 million. Fitzmaurice took over the place back in 2018 for $ 4.7 million.
An accomplished singer (Anything is Possible, Love is Endless, Can’t Get Enough), Mozella is probably best known for co-writing some of the biggest pop hits of the past decade, including Miley Cyrus’ No 1 smash “Wrecking Ball”, One Directions chart-topping “Perfect”, Charlie Puth’s “One Call Away” and Kelly Clarkson’s Grammy-nominated “Love So Soft”. The 40-year-old native of Detroit has also worked with greats like Rihanna, Ellie Goulding, Tinashe, Madonna, Nick Jonas and Pink.
Perched high on a hill in coveted north Montana, Mozella’s new residence is mostly hidden from the road by a screen of towering cypress trees. A brick walkway with steps begins at the side of the spacious driveway and then leads under a fenced trellis and through a grassy, fenced lawn before it extends to the attractive stucco and dormer house. The 2,808-square-foot, two-story building rests on 0.23 acres and has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, as well as a detached guest house.
A rather inconspicuous front door opens into a foyer that leads into a living room with a fireplace that looks out over lush greenery through split light windows. From there, a formal dining room and breakfast nook have French doors that open onto a terrace with an outdoor dining area. The breakfast area is adjacent to a gourmet kitchen with high-end appliances from Thermador, Wolf, Sub-Zero and Miele, as well as a butcher’s block island with a sink. Elsewhere on the lower level is a bedroom with an adjoining bathroom.
Upstairs, a spacious master suite offers a seating area that leads to a balcony with views of the treetops and mountains. An updated bathroom has a frameless shower and a massive bathtub, and there is also a large walk-in closet. On this floor there are two more bedrooms and another bathroom.
