Woman Killed in Crash on Santa Monica Freeway | KFI AM 640

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A 25-year-old San Bernardino woman was killed when the car she was riding in crashed into another vehicle on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway in the Covina area of ​​Los Angeles County, officials said.

Mariah Beltran was a passenger in a 2006 Saturn Vue that was traveling on the westbound freeway at 1:23 am Saturday east of Holt Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Saturn’s driver, 22-year-old Carlos Rivas of Los Angeles, lost control of the car for unknown reasons and collided with a 2018 Honda Accord driven by a 47-year-old Los Angeles woman, the CHP said.

The Saturn overturned and Beltran and Rivas were taken to Pomona Valley Hospital, where Beltran died from major internal injuries and Rivas was treated for moderate injuries.

The Accord driver suffered only minor injuries and was not hospitalized.

CHP officials said alcohol was not suspected to be a factor in the accident.
