Beach Cities Police and Fire Department Toy Drive

The community is invited to sponsor the 29th annual Beach Cities Toy Drive hosted by the cities of Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach. Donations of unwrapped new toys are accepted now through December 18 at the following Police and Fire Department locations: LA County Fire Station at 540 Pier Ave .; Hermosa Beach Police Department at 1315 Valley Dr .; Manhattan Beach City Hall at 1400 Highland Avenue; and the Manhattan Beach Fire Station at 400 15th Street. Last day for the Spark of Love ride

The El Segundo fire department is holding its Spark of Love campaign for children until December 16. Hand in new, unwrapped toys or exercise equipment to the fire station at 314 Main Street anytime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Light up the Beach Cities competition

Support the Roundhouse Aquarium’s educational programs by voting in the community-wide Christmas decoration competition, Light up the Beach Cities. Award categories include Houses, Blocks, Vehicles, and Businesses. Voting will take place December 16-21, and the winner will be announced on December 23. Make a mandala ornament

Think about the past year as you decorate a one-of-a-kind mandala ornament during an activity at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes. Led by a wellness coach, guests learn the art of mandala and take a piece of jewelry home with them. Sessions will take place on December 18 and 19, starting at 1 p.m. and costing US $ 60 per person. GLOW in the Botanical Garden

Every day in December, visitors to the Terranea Resort, Terranea Way 100 in Rancho Palos Verdes, can partake in a festive search for Terra, the elf on the shelf. A new holiday jingle is shared every day at Pointe Discovery, indicating Terra’s location. Flair Cares clothing and shoe wear

Time to clean closets for charity and support Flair Cleaners’ 19th annual Christmas and Shoe Promotion through December 31st. Customers and community members can donate at Flair Cleaners on 1900 Artesia Blvd. in Redondo Beach (one block east of Aviation). Pick-up and delivery customers can mark a bag for the donation when placing their orders. Items collected will benefit the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission and Helping Hands for the Blind.

Photos with Santa Claus

Santa has arrived in Manhattan Village for the holiday season and has themed photos for visitors of all ages. Until December 24th, visitors have the opportunity to share holiday wishes and have their picture taken with the bearded man. The community is invited to celebrate the winter holidays by making cards for Park Vista residents, making ornaments, and helping to keep people happy. A family story is planned along with other surprises and activities that include Hannukah and Kwanzaa. The group meets from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the library’s Sue Carter Community Room at 111 W. Terranea festival around the tree

Terranea invites the public to celebrate a festive tree with Christmas carols, postcards about the North Pole, unique photo opportunities and special shopping offers. From 5pm to 8pm in the front driveway of Terranea Resort, 100 Terranea Way in Rancho Palos Verdes. Enjoy a variety of seasonal drinks and treats for all ages.
