UCLA Santa Monica Hospital ranks # 1 in the state and # 3 in the nation

Highest ranking ever for UCLA Health

UCLA Health hospitals ranked # 1 in both Los Angeles and California and climbed to # 3 nationwide in the US News & World Report’s annual report, the highest ranking UCLA has received in its history.

In its annual assessment published July 26th, UCLA Health was once again placed on the national honor roll, which includes the 20 hospitals that provide the highest quality care for a variety of procedures and diseases.

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota took the top spot in the rankings that year, followed by Cleveland Clinic, UCLA Health, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles. Elsewhere in Santa Monica, Providence St. John’s Health Center was ranked # 1 in adult specialty care and # 18 in California.

For UCLA Health, this is the 32nd year in a row that the system has been listed on the nation’s top 20 national hospitals list of honors.

UCLA Health includes four hospitals in two locations – the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital, and UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital on the main university campus in the Westwood area of ​​Los Angeles and the UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center – and more than 200 community clinics across Southern California.

US News evaluated the performance of more than 4,750 medical centers in 15 specialties and for 17 procedures and diseases. UCLA Health was rated “high performing” on all 17 procedures and conditions, from hip and knee replacements to heart attacks and strokes. UCLA Health achieved top 10 placements in 12 specialties: Diabetes and Endocrinology (No. 3); Gastroenterology / gastrointestinal surgery (No. 4); Geriatrics (No. 4); Pulmonology and pulmonary surgery (No. 4); Ophthalmology (No. 5); Orthopedics (No. 5); Psychiatry (No. 5); Cancer (No. 8); Neurology and Neurosurgery (No. 8); Urology (No. 8); Cardiology and cardiac surgery (No. 9); and rheumatology (No.9).
