Trying to locate an attack involving a deadly gun suspect – santamonica.gov

At around 2:30 a.m. on August 7, 2021, officers from the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) answered a service call at the intersection of 2nd Street and Wilshire Avenue. The callers reported several fighting in the middle of the street.

When the officers arrived on site, they found a victim on the 100 block of Wilshire Blvd. 800 Degrees Woodfired Kitchen in front of him, lying on his back with a serious head injury. A witness and friend of the victim told officials that a group of men physically assaulted the victim, causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness for a period of time.

The people involved were last seen walking north on 2nd Street from Wilshire Blvd. The victim was immediately taken to a local hospital, where she has stayed and continues to receive treatment for the head injury.

SMPD detectives are seeking assistance from the public in identifying and locating the group of suspects involved in this incident. Based on camera footage obtained from detectives, up to seven people were involved in the fight, with S-1 knocking the victim unconscious. It is believed that all the individuals involved were visiting bars in the area prior to the fight, possibly the bungalow at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel.

Suspicious description:

  • S-1: Male, black, 5’10 “-6’0”, 20-30 years old, 180-200 lbs, white long sleeve shirt, black pants.
  • Other subjects involved: Male, Black, 6’3 “-6’4”, 28-35 years old, 230-250 lbs, black shirt, black pants, white shoes, bald head, facial hair.
  • Group of five additional males, including one male, one white, one light-skinned M / B or M / H and others (unknown breed).
