Three found dead in Ventura County home; Sheriff is investigating

A father and two adult daughters were found dead in their Ventura County home Thursday, authorities said; the cause of death is still being investigated.

The three were, according to Cmdr. Eric Buschow of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. Investigators are waiting for the prosecutor to determine the cause of death.

A relative who had not heard from the father and his daughters made the discovery, said Buschow. There was no sign of forced entry or obvious signs of trauma to the three people, he said.

The names of the deceased were not known until Friday morning. The next of kin had been notified, said Buschow.

On Thursday, the MPs arrived at the apartment shortly after 5 p.m. The MPs who entered the home first wore special breathing apparatus in the event of a possible environmental hazard, said Buschow.

“The house was safe. At the moment we just don’t know, ”said Buschow. “It could have been environmental, or it could be due to carbon monoxide. We have to wait to find out the official cause. “

The Ventura County Coroner’s Office did not immediately respond to requests for additional information.
