Third case of Omicron discovered in LA County – CBS Los Angeles

Los Angeles (CBSLA) The Los Angeles County Department of Health announced a third case of the COVID-19 variant of Omicron.

The person recently returned from a trip to West Africa and is in self-isolation. The person who is fully vaccinated had mild symptoms and all known close contacts are fully vaccinated and tested negative.

“This latest case of the Omicron variant in Los Angeles County underscores how critical safety measures are when traveling,” said Dr. Barbara Ferrer, Director of Public Health. “These requirements include testing negative before boarding your flight, wearing a mask, and not traveling while you are sick.”

Public health advised residents to get vaccinated or have their booster vaccinations as the holiday season approaches. They also asked residents traveling on vacation to get tested, but also said residents should consider postponing their travel plans.

“Local residents should also consider postponing the trip until their and all of their fellow travelers are fully vaccinated,” Ferrer said.
