The ice rink is not returning this Christmas season in Santa Monica

The electrical hub is damaged and needs to be repaired, the company said. The rink is located at 1324 5th St., Santa Monica.

“In January 2021, the electrical infrastructure in the surface parking lot that serves as Ice’s home in Santa Monica was severely damaged,” the company wrote on its website. “DTSM worked with Southern California Edison and the City of Santa Monica to obtain funding and approvals to perform repairs and purchase replacement parts.”

Unfortunately, these replacement parts will not be available in time for the 2021-2022 Ice at Santa Monica season to begin, the company said.

Skaters can plan to slide on the Santa Monica ice rink in 2022.

“DTSM will repair the electrical infrastructure as soon as spare parts arrive and looks forward to welcoming Skaters again in the fall of 2022,” said the company.

Additional events are planned for the holidays in downtown Santa Monica, including the Christmas lights of the City of Santa Monica Holiday Tree and the Promenade Menorah.

People can stay in the same location as the ice rink for other upcoming holiday celebrations.

“DTSM is partnering with the City of Santa Monica to host other community events in the Ice Parking Lot and will soon announce more exciting vacation activities,” the company said.
