LOS ANGELES – The city and county of Los Angeles are calling for a widespread homelessness lawsuit to be dismissed, calling on local governments to find shelter for thousands of people who live on the streets.
Lawyers from the city and the district filed for dismissal at the federal court last week.
The LA Alliance for Human Rights lawsuit alleges that the city and county inaction on the issue created a dangerous environment.
Skip Miller, an LA County attorney, describes the lawsuit as benevolent but legally flawed.
An Alliance political adviser said the city and county should focus their resources on getting as many people off the streets as possible.
