Southern California heat warnings in place through Wednesday – Orange County Register

Warmer conditions started off the week in Southern California, but this heat streak is expected to be much shorter than the last with a gradual cooling off and return to seasonal normal, forecasters said Monday, Sept. 26.

An excessive heat warning was issued for the Inland Empire and inland Orange County from 10 am Monday through 8 pm Wednesday, before the cool down begins Thursday.

For the San Fernando Valley and a stretch of Los Angeles County that includes Beverly Hills down to inland Long Beach, the warning was only issued until Tuesday, as those areas are expected to slightly cool Wednesday.

Heat advisories, a step down from warnings, were also issued for coastal Orange County through 8 pm Wednesday and the Santa Monica Mountains through Tuesday evening.

On Monday, in some places like Riverside, high temperatures were 15 degrees above seasonal normals. However, this heat streak will still be about 5-10 degrees cooler than earlier this month during an almost 10-day heat wave, forecasters said.
