SoLa Impact plans to develop OZ South Los Angeles

The SoLa Impact Opportunity Fund plans to build an 84-unit apartment building in Westmont, an unincorporated community in the South Los Angeles area. The project will include 21 units with permanently supportive and documented limited affordable housing.

The 11001 South Vermont Avenue building will complement SoLa’s portfolio of affordable housing projects in the South Los Angeles area. The company currently has more than 1,500 such units in the region.

SoLa founder and managing partner Martin Muoto spoke about his company’s mission in episode 88 of the Opportunity Zones Podcast last year:

The architects’ collective designed the project. According to the project website, the units will use lightweight steel frames in modular construction, and a common room, laundry room and social offices will be located on the ground floor of the development.

Construction work is scheduled to begin this year and be completed in 2023.
