santamonica.gov – Roaming suspects arrested

At around 2:40 a.m. on September 20, 2021, officers from the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) responded to a search that just occurred in an apartment building on the 2300 block on 4th Street. The reporter told the news agency that a man broke into his side gate and approached the back door with a knife in his hand. The resident yelled at the unknown man. The person dropped the knife and was escaped from the area with another man.

The forces arrested two men who matched the description of the resident, a short distance away. Officials identified the individuals as Taylor Kale Pacheco, a 30-year-old man, and Robert Sam Chandler, a 32-year-old man from Los Angeles. The officers checked the surveillance camera and were able to identify the people as suspects of the search. The knife was recovered on site and the officers also seized bolt cutters that Chandler had in his possession. Both suspects were in the possession of methamphetamine. They have been taken into custody and charged with the following charges:

• Taylor Pacheco – 647 (h) PC – Roaming, 11377 (a) H&S possession of methamphetamine

• Robert Chandler – 647 (h) PC – roaming, 466 PC – possession of burglary tools, 11377 (a) H&S – possession of methamphetamine, 1203.2 (a) PC – parole violation and 529 (a) (3) PC – false impersonation
