SANTA MONICA, California – Throughout the pandemic, the city of Santa Monica has been committed to improving digital customer service. This introduced new enhancements to to prioritize information access and ease of use with an emphasis on the public experience.

This multi-phase effort has seen a number of exciting improvements over the past few months, starting with a complete overhaul of the menu and structure of the website. Users can now easily find content organized by topic without having to know which department or department in the city is responsible for providing each service. The new structure is designed to stimulate exploration by increasing the content in multiple locations so that users can find new programs, locations, processes, and services while easily navigating or searching the site.

In addition to an improved website structure, a number of new functionalities were introduced during the same period. Users can now easily find information about locations in the city including hours of operation, driving directions, programs, latest news, top resources, amenities, and more. The available filters can be used to narrow down the list of city locations based on the location type and the unique amenities each location offers.

In addition, great strides have been made to streamline processes that are now step-by-step instructions, answers to the most frequently asked questions, and a breakdown of how to perform each process using the methods available – online, email, mail, phone , In-person or mobile app. Based on the new site structure, each page offers a complete overview of the process from start to finish and brings information in one place, regardless of which department or department is responsible for each process step.

For those interested in learning more about the city’s departments, the department’s new landing pages provide an overview of each department, a department breakdown, the latest news and updates, top resources, and a list of department heads.
