Santa Monica Studio deny God of War: Ragnarok documentary rumor

Santa Monica Studio’s Raising Kratos development documentary came out in 2019, a year after the award-winning reboot came out in 2018. Three years later, God of War: Ragnarok is finally out and fans are expecting a follow-up. But, Santa Monica is having none of it as it confirms that they’re not working on such a documentary.

You can probably compile the BTS series and watch it as a whole as a pseudo God of War: Ragnarok documentary.

Santa Monica Studio deny God of War: Ragnarok documentary rumor

Millie A poured gasoline into the rumor mill dumpster fire after claiming that Santa Monica Studio will write, film, edit, and produce a documentary covering “the pressure to follow up on God of War, the impact of Covid and more.”

Naturally, the tweet gained traction but Santa Monica Studio quickly put a knife to it.

There is no documentary in the works.

We’ve put a lot of love and effort into our BTS series, which releases every Tues, that is our look into development for GoWR.

Don’t worry, the studio explains the BTS series that comes out every Tuesday is enough. If you want a more intimate look at the development of God of War: Ragnarok, this should be your cup of tea.

God of War: Ragnarok continues to dominate headlines after launching on November 9 and it isn’t an easy thing to do. Keep in mind, God of War: Ragnarok came out around the same time as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0. Despite facing heavy competition, Kratos’ latest outing outsold all but FIFA 23 this year en route to securing the second-highest critic score of the year.

God of War: Ragnarok is now the frontrunner to win GOTY alongside Elden Ring.

Fans better savor God of War: Ragnarok because it’ll be the only God of War game we’ll have in a while.

We’ll find out if God of War: Ragnarok will make it two in a row for Santa Monica Studio’s games once Geoff Keighley announces the winners of this year’s GOTY award at The Game Awards on December 9.
