Santa Monica is extending the local emergency through October 31, 2021

SANTA MONICA, California – The Fortieth Santa Monica Emergency Amendment, signed today, extends the remaining local city emergency orders through October 31, 2021.

While the city of Santa Monica reports that 84% of its residents are fully vaccinated, the Los Angeles County Department of Health has confirmed 1,454,172 cases of COVID-19 in Los Angeles County and has continued to warn that public health measures remain necessary for prevention are the further spread of COVID-19.

“The Santa Monicans have done an amazing job getting vaccinated and wearing masks indoors, and these actions have contained the rise in cases. With the holiday season in mind, let’s continue the trend by vaccinating, masking and collecting safely, ”said Interim City Manager and Director of Emergency Services John Jalili.

The latest addition expands on the small subset of the Santa Monica COVID-19 emergency call ordinances that have not previously expired or changed. These include: suspension of water closures for non-payment of water bills; Los Angeles County Public Health Enforcement Adoption; Deadlines for noisy construction activities; and extension of the deadlines for planning and approval activities.

The city reminds Santa Monicans that from October 7th, all participants aged 12 and over at indoor mega events with 1,000 people and outdoor mega events will be able to provide proof of a complete vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative COVID-19- Must submit virus test prior to entry. Events with 10,000 or more people. Also from October 7, 2021, guests at bars, breweries, wineries, distilleries, nightclubs and lounges with back office and operation must check their COVID-19 vaccination status for indoor admission.
