A silver denarius from Marcus Aurelius as Caesar (AD161-180) with the classification NGC AU 5 / 5-4 / 5 is on offer for only 330 US dollars with only six days to close.
November 21 is the closing date for the Heritage Santa Monica Collection of World and Ancient Coins in Showcase Auction # 61237. While there are lots of ancient coins in this sale, there are also some great World Coins that will grab our attention.
Of the nearly 300 coins in this auction, around 200 are ancient, with nearly 100 world coins ready to be picked. A good selection of types of gold bars from the early 20th century are included with the World Coins. Many of these have become quite collectable by date. For example the popular Czechoslovakian ducat KM8, minted from 1923 to 1939, with one last strike, which was produced in 1951.
The Santa Monica Collection offers six Czech KM8’s in five dates, all of exceptional quality, including two dates with MS64, which is very unusual. In circulation qualities, the KM8 Ducat only trades a small percentage above the melting point, but new items bring an enormous premium of more than twelve times the melting point.
One of the earliest coins issued for the Kingdom of Egypt under Fuad I. This 100 piasters gold coin dated AH1340-1922 is a very difficult coin to find above MS63. This beautiful example is linked to the best known certified example at MS65.
Likewise, at the time of writing, there is a lovely selection of fifteen Umayyad dynasty gold dinars, all of high quality and reasonably priced. There are also some Ottoman, Abbasid, and Kakwayhid pieces here that round off the Islamic offering.
The Grand Duchy of Finland produced under Nicholas II in this auction and all of them carry very modest bids less than a week before closing.

There are 70 Byzantine pieces, 63 Greek coins, only two Judean items, and 119 Roman selections from the Empire, Province, and Republic. The quality is excellent and the prices vary widely, giving advanced collectors the opportunity to win some very rare coins while beginners can focus on a few solid pieces to further advance their collecting.
