Wetzels Float combines a classic California road trip and a beach party. The Float has a specially painted convertible that drives to the happy tunes of a boombox, with surfboards in tow. Palm trees, “gram-worthy” snacks and iconic street signs – including Route 66 and Route 1 of the Pacific Coast Highway – complete the picture. In cooperation with Artistic Entertainment Services, the masterpiece is built with natural materials in its design. A wire frame covering a 6 ‘wide x 55’ long base forms the base of the float. Then 3D structures are modeled and painted before the final step of gluing over 200,000 flowers and seeds.
The Route 66 theme is a perfect connection to Pacific Park on the redesigned Santa Monica Pier steel roller coaster, which speeds 55 feet above the Santa Monica Pier and offers unparalleled views of the Southern California coast. Pacific Park began redesigning its classic West Coaster roller coaster in 2020 with an entirely new theme to celebrate Route 66. Santa Monica Pier guests can look forward to a celebration for Route 66 West Coaster in the summer of 2022.
The charging station of the Route 66 West Coaster roller coaster is upgraded with an automobile decor with old gas pumps, license plates and maps of Route 66 as well as special memorabilia. The brand new roller coaster has been designed from the ground up as the new ride cars feature design elements of classic American touring cars that are reminiscent of a bygone era of automotive excellence and beauty.
The motto of the rose parade “Dream. Believe. Achieve. “The Wetzel Cart represents the ideals of the American Dream and how motivated people can achieve ambitious, life-changing goals. Starting with the dream of upgrading the snack category in a fresh, fun way, founders Bill Phelps and Rick Wetzel followed suit entrepreneurial passion, founded the company in their hometown Pasadena and opened their first bakery in Redondo Beach in 1994. to develop a rapidly growing and sought-after franchise concept.
For millions of people around the world, the rose parade is an iconic New Years tradition. Rose Parade runs 5 1/2 miles down Colorado Blvd. and offers four types of entries: flower-decked floats submitted by a participating company, nonprofit, or community, equestrian units, bands, and tournament entries. The participants in the rose parade have a long history with the tournament of roses and keep the traditions alive. The earliest rose tournament welcomed 3,000 spectators to its first parade full of beautiful, flower-decked horse-drawn carriages. More than a century later, the moving trucks are a marvel of the latest technology, all hidden under flowers and other natural materials.
