Robbery, shootout leads to LAPD confrontation with hostages – CBS Los Angeles

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – Los Angeles Police Department investigated a shooting on South Broadway and downtown 7th Street Friday afternoon that began with a robbery.

The incident occurred around 4:10 pm, according to officials, when the LAPD was responding to calls from a “possible man downstairs” on the 700 block of South Broadway.

Sky9’s Desmond Shaw reports that there are two victims, although their conditions are unclear or even transported to hospital. Reports suggest they may have been shot with a shotgun.

The suspect led the LAPD on a brief chase into an area near South Main and 6th Street where the police blocked roads.

The incident developed into a hostage situation in which the suspect was shot by the LAPD and the hostages were in an unknown condition. How many hostages there were is unclear.
