Return to your favorite restaurant at sunset

The dream destination for restaurants and sunsets at Hotel Casa del Mar is reopening

From Armella Stepan

It’s the time of year when the sun sets west of Santa Monica Beach. Every night this glowing amber disk appears to plunge into the Pacific Ocean to cool off, leaving behind a spectacular light show.

The team from Hotel Casa del Mar and Shutters on the Beach christened “Sunset Season” from October to January and is celebrating its arrival with the return of the Catch Restaurant.

On November 2nd, the dream destination for restaurants and sunsets at Hotel Casa del Mar reopened after an 18-month break by the sea.

Chef Gemma Gray’s coastal classics such as Chilean sea bass with manila clams, grilled octopus and a full raw food bar are returning. New additions are seasonal dishes from local ranchers and farmers such as slow-cooked lamb shank with heirloom carrots and dried fruit, perfect for a cool autumn evening.

Also back is probably the best sushi and sashimi bar in town with a sea view, run by sushi chef Frank Prieto, who is also happy to recommend the best sake pairing.

Catch also has an intimate private dining room with ocean views perfect for vacation parties of up to 14 people.

“In the autumn and winter months, as a chef, there is nothing more satisfying for me than preparing holiday events and watching how groups of people enjoy them.” “My kitchen team and I are very happy to have Catch at this time of year when the sunsets are so spectacular and everyone will celebrate the holidays together again, ”explains the always exuberant cook Gemma Gray.
