Religious Events in the San Fernando Valley Area, Oct. 30th-Nov. 6 – Daily news

Diwali, a festival of lights, will be observed from November 1st to 5th this year in Los Angeles by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and others over a period of five days. It is traditional to light small oil lamps called diyas, which are made of clay or brass. The third day is dedicated to the goddess Lakshmi, who is supposed to visit houses to give blessings and wealth. The Diyas light their way on this most important day of Diwali.
