Rams rookie recipient Jacob Harris, who suffered a knee injury during the Rams’ loss to the Tennessee Titans, will have knee surgery at the end of the season, coach Sean McVay said Monday.
Harris, a fourth-round draft pick from central Florida, was injured while playing on special teams in the 28-16 loss at SoFi.
“It’s a shame – I hate this for Jacob, we were hoping to get him a little more involved,” said McVay.
The 6-foot-5, 211-pound Harris was drafted as a hybrid tight end and played that position during training camp and preseason. Since the start of the season, Harris has mainly played in special teams. He played six offensive snaps against the New York Giants and nine against the Houston Texans.
After the Rams released recipient DeSean Jackson last week, McVay said Harris would be considered the recipient.
“It’s seamless,” Harris said of the transition last week, “because I’ve been asked to do all of these things at UCF.
“These are the guys they’re looking for here. Our recipients are not only known as good distance runners and pass catchers. We also get down and dirty with blocking schemes. “
With Jackson’s release and the end-of-season injuries suffered by Harris and rookie Tutu Atwell, the Rams include Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, Van Jefferson, rookie Ben Skowronek and JJ Koski.
