Police say suspects were arrested in the liquor parking lot

SANTA MONICA, CA – A man and woman from El Monte were arrested over the weekend in connection with a shooting in a liquor store parking lot in Santa Monica, according to Santa Monica Police Department.

The shooting occurred at around 9:45 p.m. on Friday at Eddie’s Liquor, 2045 20th Street, police said. Nobody was injured.

The two suspects had quarreled with a victim in a parking lot, the police said. As the dispute escalated, one of the suspects took a gun from his car and gave it to the other suspect. The suspect fired the gun and then drove away.

The officers spoke to people during the shooting and were given a description of the suspect and the vehicle, the police said. They found the suspect’s vehicle on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway heading east.

The officers stopped the vehicle near Sawtelle Boulevard and Matteson Avenue, police said. They found the suspects, a gun and three children in the car.

Jesus Manuel Macias, 36, was arrested on suspicion of being attacked with a deadly weapon, carrying a loaded firearm in public, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and endangering children. His bail was set at $ 100,000. He was released on bail on Sunday.

Lucero Campos, 26, was arrested on suspicion of endangering children, carrying a loaded gun and aiding and abetting. Her bail was set at $ 100,000. She was released on bail early Monday.
