SANTA MONICA, California – The Santa Monica Public Library is pleased to welcome visitors to the Pico Branch Library, 2201 Pico Blvd., starting Wednesday December 1, 2021.

“The Santa Monica Public Library is a vibrant place for learning, enrichment, and connection. We couldn’t be more excited to reopen our beloved Pico neighborhood and to welcome our customers back to the facility, ”said Interim Library Director Erica Cuyugan.“ Our team is focused on activating services to meet the needs of the community It was heartwarming to see our youth and families come back for safe, personal programs. ”

Library visitors can look forward to:

  • Browse through the adult and youth collection,
  • Collection of library holdings,
  • Use the computer for up to 30 minutes

There’s also more to expect as the library continues on its step-by-step approach to reopening, restoring minimal personal programming and operations, as well as piloting a self-service model in the Ocean Park branch. Smaller funding from grants and the city’s budget for fiscal year 2021-2023 have allocated resources to introduce some expanded services and hours of operation and open up the second floor of the main library for browsing.

Limited personal programs and stories for children and families have been restored in the main library and Pico branch.

The opening times have been extended to 5 p.m. in the main library on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and in the Pico branch on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and on the first Saturday of the month at both locations.

The best way to make the most of your time in the library is to plan your trip. Wear a face mask and know the books or resources you want to read or explore.
