Photos: Freeforms 25 Days of Christmas Drive-In Holiday Movie Experience Opens in Southern California

Freeform’s 25 days of Christmas drive-in The movie experience opened last night in Santa Monica, California with a screening of 1994 Tim Allen’s hit The Santa Clause. During this three-day drive-in cinema celebration, there are two Christmas film screenings per evening in which the aforementioned Santa Claus and the first two films are shown at home.

When I arrived at Santa Monica Airport in Southern California yesterday, I found that the entrance to the event was lined with festively decorated Christmas trees and a brightly colored archway that greeted me to the drive-in theater, which was being held in one of the airport’s large parking lots.

The 25 Days of Christmas Drive-In is sponsored by Hyundai, which displayed one of its vehicles in a loop near the entrance. To my extreme surprise, I was selected as one of a handful of VIP attendees and got off my car into a preheated Hyundai Santa Fe SUV in a prime location in front of the screen to enjoy the movie.

It was an unusually foggy night in Santa Monica for a drive-in movie, but the large, bright LED screen was still visible through the fog enough to capture this entertaining vacation comedy from 27 years ago. A couple of food trucks were parked nearby for anyone wanting to eat something tasty during the show, and A-frame signs reminded guests of the safety rules and the on-site Toys for Tots drop-off point.

Upon arrival, all attendees were given a swag bag containing snacks like popcorn and candy for the movie and even some fun Freeform 25 Days of Christmas camping mugs with hot chocolate sticks.

Freeforms 25 Days of Christmas will run until tomorrow in Santa Monica, California, even though the event is already sold out. For more information be sure to visit Freeform official website.
