LOS ANGELES — In their next-to-last road game of the Major League Soccer season, the Dynamo lost 3-1 to Los Angeles Football Club on Sunday night at Banc of California Stadium.

Corey Baird, a former LAFC player. scored the lone goal for Houston, off a cross in the 24th minute assisted by Coco Carrasquilla.

That leveled the score at 1-1 but LAFC, MLS’s top regular-season team, converted its second penalty kick of the first half in stoppage time after a handball inside the box. Carlos Vela converted the penalty for his second goal of the game and 2-1 LAFC lead.

LAFC then added the final margin in the 52nd minute on Ryan Hollingshead’s goal.

The Dynamo (9-17-6) next play Sunday, Oct. 2 at Nashville before closing the season at home Oct. 9 against the LA Galaxy.
