Pedestrians killed in hit-and-run in Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) – A pedestrian died after being hit by a hit and run driver in Santa Monica and then hit by a second vehicle while on the road, police say.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Saturday in the area of ​​10th Street and Pico Boulevard.

Santa Monica Police say the pedestrian believed to be a man in his fifties was crossing the street when hit by a vehicle, possibly a white Dodge Challenger with red racing stripes on the hood.

The vehicle immediately fled east on Pico without stopping to check on the pedestrian or to call for help.

A second vehicle then collided with the man lying on the lane. This second driver stopped to help and is cooperating with the investigation.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
