Patricia Cappetta Perkins June 8, 1953 – May 4, 2022 San Diego Patty Cappetta Perkins passed away peacefully on May 4, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.
Patty was born Patricia Ann Cappetta on June 8, 1953, in Encino, CA to Mary and Rocco Cappetta. She was the second oldest of their six children. She grew up and went to school in the San Fernando Valley and, along with her older sister, moved to San Diego at age 18, in 1971. Eventually, her parents and her other siblings would all make San Diego their permanent home.
Patty married, and later divorced, John Perkins, and they have a son together, Jordan Michael Perkins. Patty shared much of her life with her childhood sweetheart and long-time partner, Charles (Chuck) Hoffelund, including the over 10 years they shared together in Idyllwild.
For over 40 years, Patty worked as a waitress at some of San Diego’s most popular restaurants including: The Bratskellar in La Jolla, Dobson’s downtown and, for over 20 years, Piatti in La Jolla. She loved her work and was loved in return by her colleagues and customers alike. She loved her extensive travels through Europe in her younger years and her frequent getaways to Rosarito Beach with her son Jordan, extended family and friends throughout her lifetime. Over the years, a great many abandoned dogs found their way into Patty’s arms and offered to rescue her. She accepted every one of those offers and became their life-long human partner. She loved the mountains; she loved the ocean; and she loved her dogs.
Patty is survived by her son Jordan, her sister Diane (and husband Richard) Nares, her brother Mike (and wife Roberta) Cappetta, her sister Teresa (and husband David) Kaupke and her brother John (and wife Nancy Jo) Cappetta. She is preceded in death by her sister Nancy Cappetta Casey and her nephew Emilio Nares.
She is, and will always be, deeply missed and profoundly loved by her friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Patty’s name to either The San Diego Humane Society or The Emilio Nares Foundation.
