Ocean use warning extends for waters near Santa Monica Pier

SANTA MONICA, CA – Public health officials extended a warning about the use of seawater for the second day in a row Tuesday night, warning people before swimming in the waters near Santa Monica Pier and Mother’s Beach in Marina del Rey or surf.

The Los Angeles County Department of Health continues to warn residents who visit these Los Angeles County beaches not to swim, surf, and play in ocean water.

“Bacteria levels in seawater exceed government standards and can cause disease,” said public health officials.

Recorded information about beach conditions is available 24/7 through the county beach closure hotline: 1-800-525-5662. Information is also available on the website: PublicHealth.LACounty.gov/Beach/.
