The National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) has named Meka Moore as the first president of the new association in Los Angeles.
Moore is a partner in Selman Breitman LLP’s Los Angeles office in the firm’s insurance practice. She supports insurers in cover-related matters in connection with first and third-party claims from policies such as P&C, E&O and general liability. Moore is also experienced in defending insurers in disputes involving complex non-contractual matters and suspected fraud and advising on insurance matters related to sexual abuse claims.
Moore currently serves as the national coordinating attorney for COVID-19 litigation.
“The NAAIA is excited to start a new chapter in the greater Los Angeles area and looks forward to the opportunity to work with other insurance companies and community organizations in Los Angeles,” said George Woods, vice chairman of the NAAIA. “We have a chapter in this city, thanks to Meka Moore.”
Woods noted that Moore’s NAAIA has seen steady membership growth in Los Angeles over the past two years. Moore has also helped the association land partnerships with two insurance organizations, added the vice chairman.
“Under Ms. Moore’s leadership as chapter president, we see a great future for this chapter and the metropolitan area it will serve,” said Woods.
“Meka’s extensive insurance law experience and connections to the insurance industry locally and nationally will prove invaluable in her role as director of the local NAAIA chapter and mentor to the future generation of insurance professionals,” commented Selman Breitman founder and managing partner Neil Selman, who introduced that Selman Breitman supported local NAAIA activities following Moore’s example and is proud that Moore and her colleagues are “building such a great organization”.
