ANDERSON – Missing Anderson teenager Jayda Johnson’s mother posted on Facebook Sunday that her daughter was found in California.
Kristen Johnson’s post said her daughter was safe with a law enforcement agency and that she was flying to California to bring her daughter back to Anderson.
Anderson Police Department public information officer Caleb McKnight said Monday that Jayda Johnson sent her mother a message that she was fine and that she had lost her phone.
The news from Jayda Johnson showed that she was in Santa Monica, McKnight said.
“We contacted the Santa Monica police who found them,” he said.
McKnight said Jayda Johnson was with the California Department of Child Services and had been examined in a hospital.
Johnson’s disappearance from her Anderson home on December 8th resulted in a nationwide search involving Anderson and St. Louis Police and the FBI.
Johnson was last seen by family members on December 8 when she was reportedly lured or sneaked out of her mother’s home.
Her family reported her missing on Thursday, December 9th.
Kristen Johnson’s post indicated that her daughter had traveled to meet Lucky Doby.
According to Johnson’s mother, Kristen, the police rang her phone just after 5:30 a.m. on December 9, and it was in St. Louis. Since then, her cell phone has been switched off.
McKnight said several arrest warrants had been obtained to track down cell phones.
He said the department was aware of three phone calls Jayda made to a phone number registered with Doby in Los Angeles.
