The Mira Costa boys basketball team closed a four-game in eight-day stretch with a fourth consecutive victory Friday.
Led by Nick Lundy’s 18 points the Mustangs (16-5, 4-1) took care of Palos Verdes 57-26 and clinched the No. 1 seed in next week’s Bay League tournament.
The Mustangs will have a first-round bye, when the tournament begins Monday.
Monday’s first-round games will have No. 6 Redondo at No. 3 Peninsula and No. 5 Palos Verdes visiting No. 4 Santa Monica.
The Peninsula Redondo winner will play at No. 2 Culver City Wednesday. The PV Santa Monica winner will visit Mira Costa.
Wednesday’s winners will meet Friday for the league championship and the losers will face each other for third place.
“We decided to do this to makeup for the games we missed coming out of the holiday when teams were hit with Covid protocols,” Mira Costa athletic director Glenn Marx said. “This gives players a lot to look forward to.”
The Bay League played just one round (five games) of league games instead of the normal 10.
Mira Costa and Culver City finished 4-1, but the Mustangs received the No. 1 seed due to a head-to-head win.
Redondo is the top seed in the girls tournament and will have a first-round bye.
Monday’s first-round game will have Palos Verdes visiting Culver City. Santa Monica is out due to Covid protocols.
Wednesday’s schedule will have No. 3 Peninsula visiting No. 2 Mira Costa and the PV Culver City winner visiting Redondo.
The second-round winners will meet Friday for the league championship.

WEST TORRANCE 58, TORRANCE 48: The Warriors (14-9, 4-0) clinched the Pioneer League title with the win.
Daiki Narimoto and Matthew De Luna had 10 points apiece. Cole Jacobs finished with nine points and 12 rebounds.
ST. BERNARD 53, SERRA 49: Jason Hart Jr scored 19 points as the Vikings (14-4, 4-1) pulled out the Del Rey League win.
LaQwon Cole led Serra (17-9, 3-3) with 11 points and Jeremy Dent-Smith had 10.
INGLEWOOD 55, LEUZINGER 54 (OT): The Sentinels (7-8, 2-1) rallied to defeat the Olympians in overtime of an Ocean League game.
Elijah Anderson had 22 points, 10 rebounds and three assists for Inglewood.
Amir Jones had 23 points and 11 rebounds and Joshua Gardner had 14 points and 17 rebounds.
ROLLING HILLS PREP 51, HARVARD-WESTLAKE 43: Tatum Tamashiro scored 20 points and Madinique Shibata had 11 in the Huskies (9-6) win.
Kaila Woo chipped in eight points and Kyra Prendergast had six points and 13 rebounds.
MIRA COSTA 68, PALOS VERDES 23: The Mustangs (17-4, 4-1) coasted to the Bay League win led by Kristyn Kim’s hot shooting. Kim shot six of 7 on 3-pointers, finishing with 18 points. Winslow Smith had 13 points and Heather Roth finished with eight.
PENINSULA 47, CULVER CITY 44: Jadyn Lee scored 25 points as the Panthers (13-8, 3-2) picked up the win in a Bay League game. Eliana Hall had seven points and 10 rebounds and Kellie Au had nine rebounds in the win.
