A mid-century modern Los Angeles home that once belonged to Liza Minnelli and the late Jack Haley Jr. and later Christina Aguilera went on sale for just under $ 10 million.

Located in Bird Streets in the Hollywood Hills, the residence was built in 1960 in a design inspired by renowned architect John Lautner and overlooks the Los Angeles Basin, according to listing agent Peter Lavin from the Beachwood team.

“It has a breathtaking view and very forward-looking architecture,” he said.

According to the listing, the more than 6,500 square meter house has four bedrooms, four bathrooms and three guest toilets on one floor. It was modernized in the early hours of the morning by Los Angeles-based designer Steve Hermann.

Materials such as black terrazzo, marble, walnut and zebrano wood can be found throughout the house. The main living area has an open floor plan with hardwood floors and ceilings, a bar, and a sunken hexagonal lounge surrounded by a fireplace surrounded by a metal jacket that extends to the ceiling.

The eat-in kitchen is stocked with off-the-shelf appliances, and there are floor-to-ceiling windows and doors to let in the California sun. Additional features include a primary bedroom suite with two fireplaces and a dressing room, a 12-person spa with a fireplace and a pool.

There is also a lower level with an 18-seat theater, adjoining bar, and wine storage room.

“That used to be Christina Aguilera’s recording studio, but the current owner didn’t need the studio, so he did the theater,” said Lavin.

The house was built for Emmy Award-winning television and film director Jack Haley Jr., whose credits include “That’s Entertainment!” (1974) and “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: 50 Years of Magic” (1990). He was the son of actor Jack Haley, who played Tin Man in the aforementioned Hollywood classic, and was briefly married to Ms. Minnelli, whose mother Judy Garland played Dorothy, in the 1970s.

The couple lived in the house together but divorced in 1979. Mr. Haley lived there until his death in 2001 at the age of 67.

Ms. Aguilera moved in shortly afterwards. She lived there until 2011, when it was sold to the current owner for $ 4.65 million, according to PropertyShark records. He was unavailable for comment.
