Mohamed Abou-Arabi, 22, was arrested after a search warrant was served at his Dearborn, Michigan home, where detectives collected additional evidence tying him to the killing, police said.

Abou-Arabi — who knew his victim — was extradited to California on Wednesday and booked at Santa Monica jail for murder, said Lt. Rudy Flores, the Police Department spokesman.

Santa Monica detectives worked in conjunction with the Dearborn Police Department to obtain additional evidence connecting Abou-Arabi to the November 2 homicide.

Police were dispatched at around 2:45 pm that day to Lot 1 at 1550 Pacific Coast Highway just north of the Pier bridge “to check the status of a male inside a vehicle that appeared to be deceased,” Flores said.

When officers arrived, they confirmed the victim was dead “with stab wounds to his upper body,” he said.

Robbery & Homicide detectives investigating the case tied the killing to Abou-Arabi, who had fled back to his Michigan home.

The evidence gathered by Santa Monica and Dearborn police was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, and a felony complaint for extradition arrest warrant was filed for the suspect, Flores said.

The FBI Violent Crimes Task Force assisted detectives from the two departments in Wednesday’s arrest, police said.

Anyone with any additional information about the suspect or stabbing should call SMPD Detective David Chabot at 310-458-2201 ext. 6679, Sgt. Ryan Gradle at 310-458-8418 or the Watch Commander (24 hours) at 310-458-8426.
