Man throws building materials from a building at the LA Police Department

LOS ANGELES, CA – A man who threw construction materials from a five-story building under construction near USC Sunday disappeared at the site and police could not find him, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 11:40 a.m. at 1390 W. Adams Blvd. in the University Park area, said Brian Humphrey, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Los Angeles Police Department Officer Mike Lopez said the man in the construction area was out of sight. The officers searched the area but did not find the man, he said.

Police closed one or more lanes near the intersection of Adams Boulevard and Vermont Avenue during the incident, Humphrey said.

The LAFD was called to the crime scene because it was considered a behavioral emergency, added Humphrey.
