Malibu Triathlon raises funds for cancer research at Los Angeles Children’s Hospital

MALIBU, Calif. (KABC) – It was a cool Sunday morning on Zuma Beach, but that didn’t stop thousands of people from trying the Malibu Triathlon.

Approximately 5,000 triathletes swam, cycled and ran to the finish line that weekend while raising funds for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ children’s cancer research program.

New York transplant Josie Danzinger decided to run the 2XU Malibu Triathlon with the help of her mother, who ran on Saturday.

This time there was a new addition. It was the US debut of the Super League Triathlon – the fastest swim bike run series in the world.

To his surprise, triathlete Max Wiseman was able to collect around 17,000 dollars.

“I just think the important thing is to give back and try to inspire a philanthropic streak,” said Wiseman’s father.

ABC7 presenter Philip Palmer also took part in the event – he and many others stood up for the good cause.
