Los Angeles Lakers trade plans foiled leaving LeBron James out of luck | NBA | Sports

It appears as though the Los Angeles Lakers may not be making any trades in the near future, meaning that LeBron James will not see their roster improved. The Lakers have reportedly been exploring options which involve Russell Westbrook, but their ambitious pursuit of DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic have been knocked back.

The Lakers may have turned a corner this season after a dreadful start, but they may have to stick with what they’ve got.

After making one of their worst ever starts to an NBA season, the Lakers were 2-10 and in crisis mode. However, they’ve since turned it around and are 11-15, which is much more respectable.

It’s still not where they want to be, and it’s certainly not going to help James to a Championship anytime soon. The 37-year-old is running out of time in the NBA, but he may have to see out the remainder of the season without any movement within the camp.

According to the Chicago Times, The Chicago Bulls have zero interest in Russell Westbrook in a potential trade involving DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic. Westbrook may have only joined the Lakers in 2021, but he’s been an inconsistent member of the side.

Westbrook certainly has quality, and on his day he’s a valuable asset. But with Anthony Davis and James the main stars of the Lakers, it only makes sense that it would be Westbrook used to bargain with.

After turning around their form, the Lakers dipped once again with Davis and James on the sidelines. Of course they’re huge misses, and would be to any team, but Westbrook failed to prove that he could help inspire victory without the pair on the court.

Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes has suggested that James would like to see the Lakers make moves to improve their roster this season, even though it would hurt them further down the line. The Lakers want to keep James happy, but it looks as though his wish won’t be granted.

James also is unable to leave the Lakers this season, and would have to wait until the next off-season if he was to pursue a trade. James will not want to tread water at the Lakers if they’re consistently missing out on the play-offs, and could trigger a move if performances don’t improve.

The NBA star wants to see change happen now, but it looks like he may be disappointed. The Athletic reported that the Lakers are targeting a trade after December 15, but there has been no positive update just yet.
