Los Angeles Dodgers remove outfielder AJ Pollock from the injured list

DENVER – The Los Angeles Dodgers activated outfielder AJ Pollock from the injured list a day earlier than expected in order to have another position player on the bench.

With outfielder Cody Bellinger on the injured list and infielder / outfielder Chris Taylor struggling with neck pain, the Dodgers decided to bring Pollock back against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday. Since September 5th, he has been out with a tense right Achilles tendon.

Pollock should be available in a pinch hit capacity on Wednesday, with plans to start in left field on Thursday.

“We just make sure we have enough position player coverage,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. “AJ has done really well, it will be helpful to have him off the bench.”

The 33-year-old Pollock beats .297 this season with 16 homers and 58 RBIs.

On other turns, the Dodgers designated right-handed Shane Greene for assignment. He appeared in nine games with a 4.05 ERA and a save.
